If you’ve ever worked in a private nursery what was your favourite Christmas gift.

I’m sure this would have been asked before but after repeatedly googling the question, I still just don’t know what to get.

My two girls go to a fabulous nursery and I want to get their key workers and all the staff a little something for Christmas but nothing seems suitable.

I’ve never seen the staff with pens, note books etc. as they all work on iPads. They don’t have their own class rooms, so not sure what they would do with little plaques etc. Some reviews say no chocolate, biscuits etc. as everyone buys them. They are a well funded private nursery so there are no shortage of supplies for the children or staff.

So I thought I’d ask what your most favourite gift has ever been.

A little bauble of tiny mini hand creams and lip balms.

I’ve never worked in a nursery but I am a teacher. I’m always thrilled to receive a Costa voucher. I was once given a beautiful glass bauble which I hang on my tree every year. Wine and chocolate are always gratefully received too.

Costa or such like voucher of an amount that means they can buy for their friends/family if they go togethe, it's no fun going out for coffee on your own A really good hand cream as you wear plastic gloves quite a lot in nursery when doing nappies, food prep etc add they can dry your hands quite a lot. If you can get s quiet moment with another member of staff they may be able to meet you know what brand your could let either really likes! And I know it gets said a lot but if your child can help you make a card, you could get them to do some painting and cut a section of the painting or and stick it on the front of a lever of folded card add write inside why you appreciate what they've done for your family. It really encourages nursery workers to keep going for the next term, especially important of your child is still going to be at that nursery going forward.

You could ask if you could make a donation towards their Christmas party (maybe not appropriate if company funds it anyway, but if they pay for their own they might welcome this).

A wooden spoon that a child had painted me on. They did it for all of us in the room, it was so thoughtful and personal . It was about 13yrs ago and I’ve still got it.
