How many coats do your kids have?

Dd4 has one winter coat we bought over a month ago. One rain coat. One denim jacket. One hoody type jacket. I'm thinking this is enough. However this morning she said her friend said how come you wear the same coat everyday?

I told her it was her winter coat and that's why she needed to wear it. What would you do? Get another jacket type of coat? How many coats do kids need in the winter?

Mine (5 and 8) have:

• school coat
• smart wool coat
• rain coat

I might add a denim jacket in spring if I'm feeling generous

Big winter coat
Soft shell
Waterproof (3 in 1)

They normally get a couple of years out of coats. Currently on winter 2 of wearing the same coat each day matching his brother. They're fine about it.

My daughter has loads, surprised most just have one

Bloody loads - probably 3-4 "big" coats per child, and another light jacket or two. My mum buys them whenever she can see a bargain and they tend to build up until eventually I weed out the smallest ones and pass them on.
