Can antibiotics cause a sore throat?

My 15 year old has an infected toe he has been taking antibiotics for 5 days and has 5 days more. Today he has a sore throat - his tonsils are not red but his throat looks bright red.

Im wondering if this could be an effect of the antibiotics? Or could he have another illness to add to his toe ?

Never has a toe caused so many problems!

They can cause Thrush

Could be thrush. You can buy Daktarin oral gel over the counter (or get it on prescription) and see if that clears it up. Also take some probiotics. It could be an related viral thing however! Just bad timing maybe.

With the amount of bugs going around at the minute I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d just picked up something else
