How would you find who a telephone provider is (Alzheimers)

My Uncle with Alzheimer's has a phone not working

He thinks he is with BT - BT doesn't & he isn't with Sky either

Without travelling to London (2 hours) is there any way I can find out who his provider is?

Dial 150 on the phone itself. If will.be automated but may announce itself. Eventually you'll get a human.
Or look at his bank statement

I've just looked at mine here and it gives the right answer.

It gives the wrong answer for me.

Do any other providers use the BT network? Might that have confused matters?

InTheLabyrinth · 01/12/2021 13:09

Do you have access to his bank statements? Can you see a regular payment to a telecoms company?

KatyMac · 01/12/2021 13:11

The BT on that network is Openreach

so his provider is using (BT) Openreach to sell him the services

But he def isnt BT

No the financial POA hasnt been processed/arrived yet

So I don't have access to his bank statements yet - he gave me one last time I was there...from 2015

Assuming it’s a landline, has he unplugged it/switched the power off, or both?

From (far too much) experience of dementia, unplugging things and switching them off are very common!

Could e.g. a neighbour go in to check?

My DM also used to complain that her phone wasn’t working, when she was trying to ring someone with the TV remote!

KatyMac · 01/12/2021 15:19

The cleaner was in and checked it was plugged in switched ok etc

That second lookup also says bt

I have messaged my cousin to see if he has any idea

portal.aql.com/telecoms/network_lookup.php says we're with BT, we're not.
We used to be, but not for about 8 years.

I managed to persuade his carer to find out this evening
