Etsy Thread

I was following an Etsy thread but haven't looked at it for a while, so I've started another one here as I can't seem to find it in (my very long) list of 'following'.

I'm planning to sell some vintage items on Etsy next year. It started out with one specific type of item but has diversified slightly with the addition of other items. There will be a lot more of the 'specialised' item than the added items especially at the beginning.

My question is, do you have more than one shop?

It never occurred to me before to do this. I feel very divided about this as my items are still vintage...so not doing two completely different things but my focus remains on my initial item and there is likely to be less items in the other catergories. Project A had developed a sort of brand I suppose and I don't want it to have the appearance of having stuff just added on to it. However, it may be a double edged sword in terms of managing two shops - separate account etc.

Anyone?

I have two Etsy shops. The main one sells our handmade ceramics and the other is for vintage china I inherited.

The vintage china one is currently on holiday as I'm too busy to manage both at the moment.

You need separate email addresses for each shop. One good thing about having 2 shops is the free listings you can earn for each shop, but only if you open your 2nd shop with a link shared from your main account. That way each shop is given 40 free listings (I think it's 40 but might be less).

The other good thing is that you can put links to your other shop in each listing, which increases visibility, and consequently traffic to both shops.

That's interesting thisgardenlife Your items sound different in a clear way and probably made the decision easy for you. My items would be different kinds of vintage...still I'm thinking of two shops as I have lots of a certain type of item and I suppose in a way I've specialised in one thing whilst still having an interest in other more 'random' items.
