Help me remember this annoying phrase!

I was talking to my friend last night about annoying new phrases and there is one I really hate when I hear it but I can't remember it and it's driving me mad!

It is quite a modern phrase and is in an advert that's been on recently. It has a similar meaning to "Get In", "Kerching" "Bish Bash Bosh" etc but I'm sure it's a sentence, not just one word.

Help!

I've not heard that one before, a new one to add to the list of awfulness!

Sorry Blush

"Pulled/Pull the trigger" makes me irrationally angry.

ie: "i'm about to pull the trigger on a new car".

Ugh.

LadyOfMisrule · 30/11/2021 16:45

I have a friend who is constantly being encouraged to "smash it" whenever she participates in her sport.

Ewww!! I’ve never heard that before. Wish I hadn’t.

Is it the Cinch advert? "She cinched it".
Drives me bonkers.

BleuJay · 30/11/2021 16:50

Was it ‘Big mad?’

Mrsjayy · 30/11/2021 16:51

"Smashed it" oh my good god it gets right on my nerves ,just why ?

My Dh says "never cracked a light" meaning nobody said to me , it is bloody irritating he never used to say it so I've no idea where he heard it !

girlmom21 · 30/11/2021 16:59

Mrsjayy · 30/11/2021 17:03

mewkins · 30/11/2021 17:21

You got this? Angry

3luckystars · 30/11/2021 17:23

Was it ‘ding dong’

There is one woman on the make up artist show and she keeps saying it. It’s so awful. Even a persons face while saying it, it’s all wrong!

Oh my god she makes me so so so so angry with her ding dong. She obviously things it makes her sound edgy and amazing but she sounds unhinged. I love the programme though, other than her ding dong and the blokes ridiculous outfits. If anyone is wondering it's Glow Up on BBC 3
jpbee · 30/11/2021 18:53

Thank you for the help but it’s not any of these! It’s been 24 hours of trying to remember it now and it’s driving me mad! I’d not heard Ding Dong before and it sounds potentially more annoying than the one I’m trying to remember!

This is a bit off- piste but there’s a wine advert where they do something like a yoga pose and keep saying “that’s a splash of the bold”. It’s doing my head right in. It’s not a splash of anything. It’s doing a yoga pose. Piss right off with yer trying to make a made-up phrase into an every day phrase. You can’t. It’s a splash of pish.

Erhem, scuse the rant. I just hate that ad so much. Grin

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 30/11/2021 21:21

That's a tough one any more context? Maybe where you hear it from , or how long ago, could have been a popular expression of its time?

Fwiw I hate smashed it with a passion!

jpbee · 01/12/2021 15:55

I wish I could give more context but I'm struggling. The advert has been on maybe for a year or so, it isn't a brand new advert.

I feel it is an expression that would be used by younger people, weirdly I think of that annoying lad from the Inbetweeners Movie - the one who is on holiday on his own and keeps cropping up everywhere. I've checked though and it isn't one he says, but I can imagine him saying it!

I feel like it's quite long, like 5-6 words!

Got a horrible feeling I'll never remember it, been 2 days now!

Smashed it

Competed it mate

jpbee · 03/12/2021 15:06

Ok so I think I've remembered it, but it's been that long trying to remember I'm not even sure it's the right one!! But either way, it deserves to join the list of seriously annoying phrases:

"Winner Winner Chicken Dinner"

I probably find it even more annoying due to being vegetarian
