Spending Nectar Points on food shopping- URGENT HELP PLEASE!

I don't know if I'm being particularly thick or it's just not that clear.

I am fucking skint, really skint.

Waiting for benefits etc but in the meantime am screwed.

XP has gone AWOL and has not paid the agreed Child Maintenance, his phone is off and I desperately need some food shopping.
I am sooo fucking angry at him, fucking dickhead, selfish shit.

I have over £35 in Nectar points, but it is really not clear how I can spend them in store.

If I understand correctly I can only get 500 points off each shop? Is that right? So I can't use the whole lot to get a decent shop in one go??
Is there a minimum spend?

I've tried customer services but at the moment they are not answering and I really need to know this morning so I can make plans.

In order to find out in store is going to be a half hour walk in the freezing cold with no guarantee that I'll be able to buy anything anyway.

Please don't tell me I was stupid to trust him to actually pay CMS without going through the service, I know that now, but even if I put in the application in 5 mins it's going to take ages to get it through and it doesn't change the fact I need to do something now.

Oh wise MNers please, if you have done this how does it work??

You can spend at many as you want at a time.

I do the scan as you shop and then at the end on the till you can choose your payment method and Nectar is an option.

Then it'll ask you the value you'd like to cover with Nectar.

Benefit of scan as you shop is also the running total.

Yes, this. definitely recommend scan as you shop. Hope you get sorted!

It takes them off in amounts of £2.50 so if you go over a round £2.50 you would have to pay the little bit extra- if that makes sense.
But you can defo do a good shop for your £35. Hope you get sorted.

You can spend anything up to all your Nectar points in multiples of £2.50, so you can spend the whole lot if you want. I've had to do this a few times. I think I have £5 left towards Christmas.

Blueroses99 · 29/11/2021 09:46

You just do your shop and choose the Nectar option at the till to pay.

You can only spend in blocks of 500 points or £2.50. So if your shopping came to £30, you could use 6000 points to pay for it all. But if your shopping was £32, you’d have to pay the extra £2 or add something worth 50p to take it to £32.50 or 6,500 points.

You can use as many points (to the nearest pound) as you like. I used up my £40 in one go just the other day - I was saving them for the double up offer, but they're not doing it this year.

Sending you Flowers though for the rough time and shit ex x

Seeline · 29/11/2021 09:47

I save mine up all year and then use them for my Christmas shop - definitely no limit on the amount you can spend up until last Christmas.

Seeline · 29/11/2021 09:47

Forget to say - if you are paying at the till, just tell the cashier that you want to use your Nectar points to pay.

RozHuntleysLeftHand · 29/11/2021 09:53

OH MY GOD THANK YOU! Flowers

I am so, so fucking relieved right now.

I can afford to add the extra couple of quid if needs be, but I was worried it was only gonna be £2.50 off the whole thing and I can't be dealing with all that fucking about.

It makes sense to me now! Blush

I always use scan and shop anyway because I like the running total and the specific nectar prices they do so that's not a problem.

I've never been so grateful for a points card, I refused to get one for years because "tracking" or whatever I thought at the time! Hmm Blush
