.. have you ever been to Krakow?

My DP and I have just spontaneously booked to go to krakow after Christmas and I can't wait!
I went once before but sadly the trip was cut short as the friends we went with had an emergency back at home and couldn't stay, so I didn't get to see / so much but did get to go to auschwitz which was just phenomenal. So very sad. It had always been somewhere I wanted to experience and I'm so glad I got to go.

This time we will be in krakow for 3 days, and wondered if anybody has any recommendations of things to do / where to go...? I would like to re-visit auschwitz since we last went in the summer, which was harrowing enough let alone experiencing it in the depths of winter. Other than this, are there any other things you'd recommend doing or seeing?

☺️

I would love to go there but I feel you’re brave booking anything at the moment , who knows what the travel situation is going to be in the next few weeks .

The old Jewish Quarter is lovely. The main square is also fab. Make sure you visit Schindler's Factory - very accessible from town.

The excavation site under the main square is amazing - easy to miss it but never seen anything like it. And get a coach out to the salt mines - underground lakes, cathedrals, statues. Even if you're not normally into cathedrals, the one in the main square is special - medieval artwork that looks like it was completed yesterday ...

Definitely worth taking a trip to see the salt mine in Wieliczka. That'll take a lot off your day - I think you're down there about 3 hours - but worth it.

Go and see Wawel and Sukiennice.

Wieliczka Salt Mine Is incredible - we did a tour that went to Auschwitz and then the Salt Mine in the same day.

Pinball Museum in Krakow is great fun for a rainy couple of hours.

Schindler’s Factory tour also very good if you are interested in the history and we did a walking tour of the city as well.

It’s a beautiful place (far more so than I had expected to be honest) and food and drink much cheaper than the UK…enjoy!

I was supposed to be going this week but had to cancel 😭.

I don’t generally like city breaks but I love Krakow. I would also recommend Schindler’s Factory. I wasn’t a massive fan of the salt mine but is worth a visit.
