Niche post, obviously! Does anyone remember this match/tournament? I was a child, but old enough to understand the gist of it.
I remember my Dad being very excited about the final, and there was a bit of buzz in the area as we lived quite near Twickenham at the time. My parents had invited some relatives and friends around and we had a spread after the match, which England lost to Australia. I think it sticks in the memory as it was one of the first times I had actually cared about a sports result.
It seemed to create excitement in my family but was it a big thing in the wider country at the time, and what do you remember of it?
