Arm cast for how long - buckle fracture.

DD (10) has a buckle fracture on her wrist (it is cracked as well as buckled).

She has a fracture clinic appointment 3 weeks after having the cast put on. DH took her as I had to work and didn't ask how long she may be in the cast and whether the 3 weeks appt is just a check it or to remove the cast.

I know it will depend on how well it heals, but has anyone here had similar and can indicate how long the cast was on for please?

I don't want to pay up front for clubs in January that she won't be able to attend.

Most likely 6-8 weeks.

Usually 6 weeks for a non weight bearing limb in a child of that age.

My 14yo had a buckle fracture earlier this year, just 3 weeks in a cast, the doc even debated just putting a back-slab on rather than full cast.
Healed well and was playing hockey the week he was out of it.

Thanks for your replies.

For the people who had casts on for longer than 3 weeks, did they have an interim appointment at about 3 weeks, or did they just go back after 6-8 weeks for cast removal.

My daughter had a wrist strap for the first week and then a cast for just 2 weeks. But no sports or activities for 6 weeks after that.
