What's with the folks on the radio singing with odd speech affectations that they don't have when they just talk?

There's a good few of them. Male & female.

Probably a combination of nose jobs and horse sized veneers.

And why do so many sing in fake American accents? It just makes them sound like shitty pub drunks. Looking at you, Robbie Williams.

Really great voices, really good songs. But they emit odd noises!

Not a singer but Billie Piper on her last Dr Who episodes.
I think it was put down to a brace, i Albany watch those ones though.

It's not so much the pronunciation that I find cringeworthy - it's the guys with the whistling false teeth speech.
