I have a question about my new iPhone

Just got my first ever iPhone. I was on a contract with o2 on my old android and this is my upgrade. They’ve sent me a new sim….do I put the new sim in or the one from my android which is still working in my android? The iPhone is 5G if that makes a difference.

As far as I'm aware iPhones need a different SIM to android phones so yes I would put the new SIM inside. Also I think 5G requires a different SIM to 4G so yes again Grin

Thank you. I hate setting up new phones, currently fighting with the “move to iOS” app!

New sim but ask for a PAC code first from old provider if you want keep number. Google it and there is usually number to text and they send you then You add your new number and they all magically sort it out in day or so.

You don’t need a PAC code if it’s an upgrade on an existing contract.

I'm having a total nightmare. Swapped the sim, followed some text message instructions which said it could take up to 24 hours for the sim swap but when my old one stopped working the new one could be used.

Nearly immediately I lost network onnection with the old one and an hour later still don't have any network connection on the new one. Is this normal? I can't start work as I have to receive security codes at every log in and can't get texts now

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Dippydinosaurus · 28/11/2021 10:21

You will need to turn it off and on again. If that doesn't work take out the SIM and put it back in. It can take 24 hours but it usually doesn't take long at all. Give it a few hours then call your network/live chat

DrWhoNowww · 28/11/2021 10:22

Turn it off and turn it back on again.

I had the same issue with EE a few years back - it needs to be turned off and on to rescan for network.

Also don’t know if you know this but if you use WhatsApp you can’t transfer your chats to the iPhone.

Yes you can, just not using the migrate/move option thing, it’s just a longer, more annoying process.
CovidCorvid · 28/11/2021 13:23

Thanks everyone, turning it off and on worked

@SoniaFouler
How do you do it? Friend has switched from Sony to iPhone 13 and can’t figure it out
