Breast feeding a toddler who has been sick?

My 18mo DS has been sick a few times this evening. He seemed fine before and after each episode, and so it's hard to tell when he will be sick again.

He wants to feed, he has had sips of water also, but is it a good idea to breast feed or not? I can't imagine milk being v good when being sick, somehow?

Breast milk is supposed to adapt, so if he’s sick it’s the best thing for him. You aren’t supposed to give them cow’s milk when they’ve been sick, but human milk is tailored for them.

Yes let him. Even if he doesn't keep it down for long it'll do him good.

I always fed mine when they were sick. It's comfort too as much as nutrition/hydration.

Breast milk is very easily absorbed. It is excellent at helping prevent dehydration - better than water. Your body will already be producing antibodies against whatever is making him poorly to help boost his own immune system. Keep feeding, it's magic stuff x

Breastmilk is the perfect food for an ill child. Even if he is sick again after feeding, he will be keeping small amounts down. I am a midwife and lactation consultant and am very sure of this!
