Milford Haven

There are some fab houses for sale in our price bracket in Milford Haven.
Can anyone tell me what it's like to live in please?
Not interested in schools, youth clubs etc. DCs have left home.
Does it have any community vibe? What is there for a newly retired couple to do?
Thank you.

It's got a train station

mumonthehill · 27/11/2021 07:05

It is not the prettiest of places and has some deprivation hence the house prices, however it is surrounded by wonderful coast and countryside and there are some amazing places to live close by. It is served by good public transport but remember it also has the refinery. It is a beautiful part of the world to live in.

Pembrokeshire is lovely, this is however one of the less appealing 'towns'. It is considered a town but it's pretty small but English town standards. Not sure about the community side as I don't live there, but I live in a town less than 30 minutes away which has a very involved community.

This is based on Milford haven it's self though, there are some really pretty neighbouring areas which fall under Milfordhaven but aren't in the town centre. Best thing about the town centre is the Torch theatre and cinema, which also have a very nice cafe.

Thank you.
I know Pembs pretty well and agree it's beautiful. I am from Glamorgan originally, and thinking of moving back to wales in retirement.
Haven't been to MH in a long time though.
Some good insight here, thank you

I don’t want to sound gloomy but have you considered where the nearest hospitals are?

mumonthehill · 27/11/2021 19:27

Milford is currently close to a hospital, that is planned to change but it has been slow and no site for the new hospital has yet been identified so although a quite basic hospital it will be around for a bit yet- we hope.

MinnieMountain · 27/11/2021 19:29

That’s a good point @Sennedd.

My DF has been completely unimpressed with his cardiologist. Hospital care has got worse since I left 20 years ago.

Blahdyblahbla · 27/11/2021 19:32

If you're going to need medical care in old age I'd guve Pembs a swerve.

StoneColdBitch · 27/11/2021 19:40

If you want to live in Pembrokeshire, it's not a bad choice - it's got reasonable shops and restaurants and is quite sweet in its own way. As you know, it's surrounded by amazing coast and countryside.

As PPs have said, the bigger issue is whether you want to live somewhere so incredibly remote. If you want cheap houses and pretty coast, there are better options IMO.

Floonthewall · 27/11/2021 19:50

Milford is a small ex industrial town with alot of deprevation and all the problems that come with that. There are some nicer areas and some lovely people but there is definately a reason it's one of the cheapest areas to buy in Pembrokeshire.

That is one of our considerations, yes, which rather rules out MH in my eyes, but DH likes it.
