Amazon deliveries changed?

Im just wondering. Been using Amazon since year dot, never had an issue. The deliveries always arrive on time and if i am not in they go next door.

Last week i ordered a large bunch of kitchen stuff as a treat for myself, which i also needed but not urgently.
It was due to arrive next day after 10am.
I was there, close by the door. It never arrived.

At 11am i received an email from DPD informing me that i wasnt home when they tried to deliver and it has gone to a local collection point (a few miles away). The email even stated i had chosen this, which is blatantly untrue.

As i dont drive and there is no way i can collect the large items in several boxes. I cant currently get a lift either as DP away and family /friends not local. I contacted their online assistant who said she would cancel my order. She didnt. So i rang them today and was told it would be cancelled tomorrow, and a refund due within the week.

What i want to know is, have their deliveries altered recently? My update details were from DPD, not amazon, which has never happened before, and they are a fucking walled garden leaving you no choices of how to recover your parcels.
If so, i cant risk buying from there, sadly.

Hope someone can help!

I had problems a while back when dpd were delivering Amazon parcels. One delivery they said I hadn’t been in and had tried to deliver…when I had been sat at the front of the house so definitely would have seen them. Several others were just randomly cancelled. I phoned Amazon and requested that my deliveries only come via Amazon not dpd and had no problems since.

I have only had deliveries by Amazon drivers that I am aware. Apart from one market place one that came Royal mail.

Yep I had this with DPD they said they had tried to deliver and no one was in, blatant lie as I was working from home that day and in all day! They took it to local post office. I think it's easier for them to go to PO than deliver to individual addresses. PITA as I live a couple of miles away from local town, so it means I need to drive into town, battle with the traffic, scramble for a parking space, buy a car parking ticket and then pick up parcel!

Are you sure it was from DPD and not a.scam?

gogohm · 26/11/2021 18:35

Could it have been a market place or direct from supplier purchase?

WeirdArchitecture · 26/11/2021 18:36

Thanks! I will probably call them again if i need to place an order and see if i can request a different carrier. I dont like how common this is, surely it wont benefit Amazon to do this?
I mean i am not the greatest fan of Amazon as it is, but like many people there's stuff i cant get hold of otherwise. It's like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

One DPD driver who did turn up recently (via COS clothing) was meant to come at 11am. Instead he arrived at 8am and shouted loudly that he had tried to leave it with the 'old biddy next door who looked knackered'.
What a rude bastard.

No idea, but it was a large order of a few pans, a casserole dish and some other bits. I was surprised the update emails were from DPD not Amazon like usual. It stated my order could not be left with neighbour, which is ridiculous. It wasnt a scam but a damn lie.

I had this exact situation today coincidentally. Have ordered hundreds of items with no issue but today DPD delivering and my order is in a locker somewhere near a Co-op

Do you have a doorbell camera? It probably wouldn't make any difference but if it happened to me I'd be sending the video of them not trying to deliver to Amazon customer service in the hope that it might make them use adifferent courier next time

No sadly not, i am hoping Amazon receive enough complaints.

I have no issues with my DPD, always on time and the tracker works so might just be your area

Sounds like you bought from Amazon marketplace than direct with Amazon. It's nit always easy to tell. We are blocked from
3rd party suppliers in our Amazon for business account and I happily put things in my basket but then it flashes up as blocked when I try and check out

Whereisswitch · 28/11/2021 23:16

yes, i noticed it too
