Does anyone have the Paperchase hermit crab Christmas tree decoration they’d like to sell me??

I mean, it’s an unlikely shout, because if you bought it, you probably did so because you like it, and want to keep it. But just in case you bought two or have since gone off hermit crabs; woe is me, I meant to buy one and then I procrastinated, and it is sold out online and in the three stores I’ve visited, and now I am without a hermit crab this Christmas.

Alternatively, if you’re a Paperchase-visiting Londoner and have seen some in stock somewhere, please let me know!

I have an Anthropologie one I got a couple of years ago, mine is very similar to that, but paler. I'd look, but he's still up in the loft in the Christmas section. Sorry, not much help to you at all but there is a surprising number of hermit crabs available

You might have your heart set on the Paperchase one, but I felt your anguish, having also suffered Procrastinator's Regret in the past.

Buy a real one and stick some glitter and rhinestones on his shell.

Thanks all for the pointers, lovely people! I had looked on eBay but only saw the larger one the size of a hand which because of its size, edged that fine line between cute and creepy. The auction for the Paperchase ones must be new, and whilst I am somewhat loathe to buy from that seller because they have clearly bought up all the hermit crabs in bulk to turn a profit, but I have long since acknowledged that this is the price the procrastinator pays for their regret.

@LeaveHomeNow - the John Lewis one is virtually identical and now also sold out online I’m not sure what madness this is, that hermit crab ornaments are so wildly popular that they’re all sold out before December.

I would love a real pet hermit: I’m almost ashamed to admit that I didn’t know they were real creatures until we saw them on the beach in Thailand. I was mesmerised, and then DP all casually said “oh yeah, I used to have some as pets when I lived in the US.”) But we both acknowledge I’m too lazy and irresponsible for a pet, even a relatively self-maintaining one.

You can see hermit crabs in the wild easily enough if you know where to look. West coast if Scotland, nice clean beaches.

There's a Paperchase near my office in Kings across, and I'll be popping in there on Monday, so will have a look for you!

Just in case anybody was desperately wondering how I’ve been getting along, mournful and bereft without my Christmas 2021 hermit crab tree decoration, I’m pleased to update that I was in Paperchase today buying a birthday card… AND THEY HAVE HERMITS BACK IN STOCK FOR CHRISTMAS 2022!

Obvs I bought one, much to the chagrin of American DH who upholds the rule that you don’t even start thinking about Christmas until after Thanksgiving, and certainly not before Halloween, but I’m just happy to have a hermit this year. So here’s a heads up to anyone who to thought he was cute last year - go get whilst stocks last and don’t be sad and hermit-less as I once was.

Glad you got one OP, but can someone please explain to me what a hermit crab has to do with Christmas and why anyone would even dream up the idea of such an ornament?
