Is anyone up?

Any night owls around to mind some worries for me?

Me and the DCs have Covid. My chest is tight and painful (not so that I need emergency medical attention). DD has a fever and DS is coughing his guts up. I'm so anxious about falling asleep (laying down also hurts).

Anyone here to take my mind off it? Tell me about your worries.

Didn't want to read and run. So sorry you have Covid - I had it in the summer and I think the fear that it would get worse was worse than the actual symptoms.

Do you have anyone who can drop things off that you might need?

HerRoyalHappiness · 26/11/2021 00:06

Covid sucks. I've had it twice. Try and prop yourself up on pillows to sleep, you need to sleep and get some rest or you'll feel worse.

My worries... I have an ingrown toenail... well had... I may have picked until the toenail was no longer bugging me but now my toe is infected. Grin I'm stupid at times.

Oh big hug
I don’t have any worries to share but didn’t want to read and run so to speak. I’m just having a quick break from painting a dresser I’m trying to up cycle. It’s just started heavy raining (I’m in Qld Australia) and it’s so muggy. My toddler was partially unsupervised while I was dragging the dresser drawers inside from the rain and found a jar of cinnamon (ground), so I had to quickly shower her too as she was a strange shade of orange brown by the time she’d emptied it all over her hair. Great way to begin the day hey! I hope that takes your mind off it a little and I hope you aren’t feeling too bad. My in laws had Covid and after about a week they felt significantly better.
I hope you and your children quickly recover.

I also have Covid, you’re not alone! The cough and feeling of razor blades in my throat is keeping me up, just took some cocodamol so hoping that will kick in. Both DC now tested positive… is it wrong that I am slightly peeved now that they are gatecrashing my week of peacefully isolating on my own? Grin They don’t have much in the way of symptoms though, it must be really worrying that your DC are both suffering with it.

My worries… trying not to worry about work and the mountain of cover work I have to set (I’m a teacher)

Galaxyinmypocket · 26/11/2021 00:26

I'm awake still.

One of my dc has covid and the others have chest infections, as do I. My dc seems ok, perked up today, the only symptoms were high temperature and fatigue.

I stupidly drank a coffee about half an hour ago because I fancied one (sore throat), thought it might help. Now I'm awake, I hope to drop off soon though because I'm fed up of lying awake at night thinking.

Try not to worry, get well soon

SortCode · 26/11/2021 00:29

Me too awake!!
Hey I watched the Voice US tonight...Blake Shelton what a hottie Grin

Thighdentitycrisis · 26/11/2021 00:39

I’m awake because I’m totally stressed about my huge and insurmountable work load

Sorry you’ve all got COVID, at least I’ve been spared that so far

SudokuWillNotSaveYou · 26/11/2021 00:48

Sorry, OP! I hope you and your DC are well soon. I’ve also had COVID, so I have a tip for sleeping. I had terrible cough with it; I actually got a hairline fracture on a rib from it. If your chest is tight and it hurts laying down, try to elevate yourself with a lot of pillows (use folded up blankets, towels, even sofa cushions under your pillows if you don’t have enough) so you’re about halfway between laying down and sitting up. This can ease the strain in your chest a bit but still allow you to relax your back muscles and hopefully doze off, and you won’t have that “coughing/choking” feeling I would get if I tried to lay down flat.

Slowdownandsee · 26/11/2021 01:09

Take paracetamol and nurofen, don’t miss a dose just keep taking it appropriately spaced of course, drink loads, dissolve Vicks in a jug of hot water next to bed, get a pulse oximeter off Amazon or get someone to buy you one from a pharmacy and it’s more than likely the readings will reassure you, I felt extremely ill with it in summer and kept expecting oxygen reading to be bad but it wasn’t really, if I couldn’t have seen that I would have panicked as I felt so poorly hope that helps abit sorry you are feeling worried

MrsAvocet · 26/11/2021 01:18

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell and hope it passes soon. I felt rough for about 2 weeks when I had covid but only the first few days were really bad. I agree with the PP's advice on using lots of pillows to prop yourself up in bed so you sleep almost upright- I was a lot more comfortable thst way.
My worries...well I have a hospital appointment with a specialist in the morning when I need to make a decision about having a big operation which I'm worried about, my DH has health issues just diagnosed, one of my sons was told today that he needs surgery and the other is in the middle of important exams. Oh and I've got money worries too. I should be asleep as I have to be up early tomorrow to travel to my appointment but my brain just wont switch off. But besides that, i'm fine 😁

immersivereader · 26/11/2021 01:28

How old are the little ones? Covid is rubbish

KloppsTeeth · 26/11/2021 01:58

Sorry to hear you’re struggling. V Pillows are great for propping up a raised sleeping position.

My worry list is long:
My house is a terrible mess. It needs decluttering (I am working on it) and a deep clean. I’m ashamed of the state it is in. But I just feel so knackered all the time.

When I need distracting I play games in my phone. I’m addicted to MyCafe. Just mindless really but it helps calm that voice that makes me worry more.

BigRedDuck · 26/11/2021 07:37

Thankyou for all of your kind replies and the pillow suggestions. I eventually slept for a couple of hours after some ibuprofen. DCs both seem a bit brighter but were also up half the night so I think another (another 😭) day in front of the TV.

I will be here tonight I am sure to mind worries.
