I'm looking for something 'to make him think' or along relationship/values type book.

Would Mallorie Blackman be a good choice do you think.

He likes to get his nose stuck in a book and usually goes for more of a fantasy genre.

Any ideas

Charlie Higson's The Enemy? It's zombie apocalypse but there's themes of family, childhood, politics, being forced to become mature at a young age, trauma, religion, friendship and suprisingly quite a bit of science in the last two books. Seven books long and it's rather enjoyable.

Hunger games if that's not too old, Philip Pulham His dark materials trilogy (+prequel and Sequel if he likes). Noughts and crosses.

David Eddings, Belgarian series is great for everything you said and if he likes it, it goes on into the mallorean series too

Moris Gleitzman - Once. And the rest of the books in the series. Set during and after WW2.

Ahh thank you all!
He's read and enjoyed the Charlie Higson series. He tried Hunger Games a couple of years ago, but maybe he is a better age now.
I haven't heard of David Eddings and Moris Glietzman so will try these.
Something to keep him off the computer for a while!Smile
