School breakfast club. How much do you pay per child, and how long is it for. Does it include food?

I feel like ours is expensive! Primary age.

£5 per child for 40 minutes is taking the mick. I remember a few years ago starting a job and needed a breakfast club which was £4.00 per child for 45 minutes. Worked out £160 per month, ridiculous as that was a massive dent in my already low wages. They'd get value brand bread and the cheapest cereal you could buy too, so hardly spending out on decent food.

Luckily my boss allowed me to move my hours to start half an hour later and finish half an hour later after I explained to her about the cost of breakfast club so didn't have to do it long.

Total ripoff imo.

ellesbellesxxx · 25/11/2021 22:01

£6 each, inc toast/cereal/drinks. 7:30-8:45 and they get delivered to class.

After school club have different rates, so £6 for an hour, £8 for two hours.
We use tax free childcare so I guess I only actually pay £5 a time

JunoMcDuff · 25/11/2021 22:01

Open from 7.30 £5.90 per child but 10% discount if you have 2 kids. Cereal and toast. School starts at 8.50.

It's the cheapest around. Next cheapest is £7.50, also from 7.30.

Gwrach · 25/11/2021 22:04

It's free. I pay nothing. That's from 8am till 8:50.

sunshineandshowers40 · 25/11/2021 22:06

I've just checked £5:75 for breakfast club (1 hour). £13 for after school club (up to 2.5 hours).

Cheaper than a childminders.

They get breakfast, changes each day and a snack for tea (need feeding again when they get home).

We are in the SE.

MynameisJune · 25/11/2021 22:07

7:30-8:45 £1.75 per 30 mins, you only pay for what you use. No food but you can send cereal bars etc and they do provide fruit.

RubaDubMum89 · 25/11/2021 22:08

DDs breakfast club is based away from her school. Drop off at 7.15am and school starts at 9. They get cereal, toast and fruit and a drink and the staff drop them at school. That's £6.50

After school club is £10. Pick up from school, a substantial snack and collect at 6pm.

Heruka · 25/11/2021 22:08

Free here too, but only 8.15-8.50.

immersivereader · 25/11/2021 22:09

After school club 3:20-6pm is £11! Feels a lot when you have three kids to pay out £51 a day on wrap around care. Over £1K a month just to the school usually.

Unbelievable

opinionminion · 25/11/2021 22:10

Luzina · 25/11/2021 22:11

£1 - opens at 8am. Cereal, toast, croissants. Humberside

Essexmum321 · 25/11/2021 22:11

I think you can pay for breakfast club through the Gov tax free childcare scheme so saving 20%???!???

Chr1stmasCarole · 25/11/2021 22:11

My ds' school is £5 for 7.45-9.am and includes cereal, toast and fruit.
The school I work in is free for 8am to 8.50am and serves cereal, porridge, bagels, toast, fruit and crumpets. Bacon and sausage butties on Friday.

HandlebarLadyTash · 25/11/2021 22:12

£3.50, 7:45 - 850, includes food & drink

TweenWrangler · 25/11/2021 22:12

£3.50 inc breakfast or £2.75 without. After school care £5.50 per hour charged in 15min increments e.g use it 3.30 - 5..00pm get charged £8.25. No snack included, bring your own or pay £2.50 for sandwich/drink/fruit/crisps

bluechameleon · 25/11/2021 22:17

£4.50, for 45 minutes. They get breakfast but it is just a bowl of not-especially-filling cereal (rice krispies or cornflakes) so they usually have something at home too.

NativityDreaming · 25/11/2021 22:39

@Mushypeasandchipstogo

Ours was £5 ten years ago in the SE! Can’t believe that people get their’s free!
Wales provides free breakfast to all primary aged students, this means that the local authority must provide a free breakfast if they run a breakfast club. They can charge for childcare if the breakfast club runs more than 30 minutes before school starts. The rules are a bit more complicated than this but that is the gist of it.
Herecomesthesun70 · 25/11/2021 22:39

South Wales. £1 from 7.50 or free from 8.20 toast or cereal included school starts 8.50

YerAWizardHarry · 25/11/2021 22:42

Externally run, our breakfast club is £6 per day (7.30-9.00) you get a discount if they go to after school club on the same day down to £4.50. No hot option for food literally just cereal and toast.

YerAWizardHarry · 25/11/2021 22:47

Our ASC is £13 a session so £17.50 a day per child for wrap around care per day! Crazy prices if you have a few kids

MazzleDazzle · 25/11/2021 22:55

It’s free at my DC’s school, but only open two days per week and not in the first two or last two weeks of term.

I’d rather pay and have it open 5 days per week, every week. Wraparound childcare is almost impossible to find here! We had to move schools to find a childminder. If she ever stops, we’re screwed.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/11/2021 23:13

8-8.55am. No food or drink. £3. We're in wales.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/11/2021 23:20

Officially they should provide breakfast but they say they is the govt money to keep costs down for all parents. After school
Club is from 3.15-5.30 and is £2.50 for the first hour and 50p every 15mins after that. After school they get a hot snack.

Kippersfortea · 25/11/2021 23:46

Ours is £19.25 a day for full wrap around care, they get cereal and toast before school, after school they get fresh fruit and bread products like crumpets or hot cross buns.

DogDaysNeverEnd · 26/11/2021 00:04

Looking at schools and so far £22 for morning and afternoon wraparound with a private provider attached to 1 school and £14.25 at another that's run by the school. Demand is high with waiting lists for sessions and no guarantee places will be available. It's terrifying. Fairly good chance it will affect our ability to work if we don't get the school of our choice as there might not be provision at any cost.
