First passport rant

I've sent off for my sons first passport last week. I received a text saying they've received his application and we should get his passport by 02/02/22.

Seriously 10 weeks! Ffs I'm hoping it'll be completed and sent back by Xmas. We're due to go abroad at the end of January for a family wedding. (It's a very short notice invite, hence the mad rush to get passport sorted) we're holding out to book flights because of his passport and also my renewal.

Sorry no point to this post. Just wanted to rant.

They do tell you online to allow 10 weeks. Doesnt mean it will take that long

If you know which office it’s gone to, have a look at Twitter, there will almost certainly be someone complaining or celebrating turnaround times.

I did this when I needed one last summer (which I didn’t end up using because of Covid) and there seemed to be a marked difference between offices. I was told 6-8 weeks but got it back within 2-3 weeks I think.

This says a first child online passport application is taking about 6 weeks

We recently applied for a first passport and it took 3 weeks.
