I don’t click the link I don’t read the detail but even the headlines about the hideous murder of the 6 year old boy makes me flush with a combination of nausea, rage and sadness.
I don’t want to turn into the person who doesn’t read the news.

I don't listen to the news for weeks at a time and it's the best thing I've done for my mental health. There's a lot of bad things in the world and the news can amplify that.

I'm not sure what happened to that little 6 year old boy but know it was something horrendous as it's been all over Mumsnet. I won't be searching or reading as I'm aware things like that haunt me for a long time.

I stopped reading the news when I fell pregnant with my first, 6 years ago. I know that makes me not up to date with what’s going on and somewhat ignorant but I find that I am less stressed this way. I have 3 kids now and honestly all these news really upset me so I avoid them. I get most of my information from MN and also don’t open threads which I know will upset me. I used to be emotionally tough and my mental health is very robust but since having kids, I can’t bear all these cruelties anymore.
