“…you ever did see” heave

I have a fair few friends on social media who have had babies in the last two years, for the most part the excessive posts about their offspring don’t bother me (the less said about weening ones the better). But one style of post that seems to irrationally irritate me is a picture of said baby, dressed up, looking cute with the caption “the X-est X you ever did see” e.g. “the sweetest bunny you ever did see” “the loveliest pumpkin you ever did see”… They are just eye-rolling twee, gross, and unimaginative. Do these bother anyone else?

Ooh, that'd have my teeth grinding. My personal least favourite is the format "x and y and z, oh my!" - but that's usually in magazine headlines or blogs, not baby photos...

“And just like that...”

Makes me eye roll. I feel bad about being a judgey bitch when people are just proud to show off their kids, but I can’t bear it.

Never come across it, thankfully.

Such friends don’t exist on my friends list as they would be booted off immediately.

However, a pet dog wearing a Christmas jumper is allowed.

Oh god I’ve not seen that one yet!

But the ‘just like that’ one really gets on my wick.

Plus the ‘today I am (insert 2 weeks, 4 weeks, eight weeks on a backdrop.

I have a little baby and he is cute so I do have to occasionally fight the urge to spam a pic 😂 I’d never caption it with anything twee though.

My friend’s always overshared hers (bath pics, present pile pics, first everything) but her current thing is ENDLESS food pics, loads of mess around the baby’s mouth etc. Why post that?! There’s literally a picture today of the baby with scrambled egg in her hair, eyes, nose, with the caption

‘Messy baby loves her grub, poor mummy cleaning this up!’

Why!!???

It put me off my own breakfast.

spacetreasure · 24/11/2021 10:10

From experience, I'd imagine that's because the baby is in the high chair, leaving mum with both hands free, which is a rare occurrence in the early months!

"This one."

"These two."

What?!?!

SummaLuvin · 24/11/2021 12:14

@WheelieBinPrincess yeah the food ones are the worst, it's genuinely repulsive. Slobbery sweet potato all over the place, who wants to see that!?!

Another one is "my whole world"
