How much do you pay your chimney sweep?

If you have one!
I had no idea what they charged, ours came today while I was at work. I don’t actually know how much ours charge, just one fireplace. Not sure how many variables there are with a fireplace!
Dh told me what he thought it would be, I will find out for sure when he gets home.
If you don’t have a fireplace or a chimney that needs sweeping, how much would you guess? Don’t look at anyone else’s answers!!

£50 per stove, I have two. He replaced all the seals on one for free this year.

Nothing. We leave some biscuits and a glass of rum milk for him once a year. It's more than enough.

£60 for one log burner. Includes HETAS certification.

£50

Well dh said at the weekend he thought it was about £100 and I thought that was expensive - but I really hadn’t got a clue, I didn’t say anything to him, it costs what it costs, I was just surprised.
Another question for you, we also had our oven cleaned today, oh yes, it’s all happening here today - how much do you pay for that?!
Ours is a large range master, extractor fan, grill, double oven, 6 burner hob, hot plate, and they also do out integrated microwave oven (that’s hardly ever dirty as it literally only ever gets used to soften butter Grin aside from Christmas Day when it doubles up as a third oven!) - now what we paid I consider bloody good value considering the length of time he spends on it and the fact that it looks absolutely Immaculate!

Can't help you with the oven, but to the PP who sweeps their own. I need the peace of mind that the sweep gives me, I burn 24/7 and it's covered by his insurance. I'm sure I could do it, but I'd prefer not to. This year he resealed the flue where it connects the top of the chimney, I wouldn't have known that needed doing. I consider it money well spent.

Feeling robbed... Pretty sure we paid over £100 (outside Edinburgh) for our coal fore.

lololololollll · 23/11/2021 19:36

To anyone doing your own, you really need to check your home insurance is still valid without a certificate. I suspected that was a myth told by unscrupulous sweeps, but it turns out that it can often be true Shock

And ours was £50.

Keladrythesaviour · 23/11/2021 23:12

We have an open fire, £60 is about what we paid from memory (our first year here). In the old house we had a log burner and he used to clean the glass and replace the rope etc.

whatsthestory123 · 24/11/2021 02:53

Dorset and have an open fire used everyday from Sept to May £60 and get the certificate, always book july/august for September

Bogeyes · 24/11/2021 06:50

MrsDThomas · 24/11/2021 06:54

Alwayscheerful · 24/11/2021 14:12

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 24/11/2021 14:13

I paid £80 when i lived in the south-east. Its probably cheaper where I lived now but I don't have a chimney here.

Brahumbug · 24/11/2021 14:41

We had ours done in October, £50, or half price if you supply your own climbing boy😁.
