My daughter attends a dance school and loves it. But we see it as a money making business rather than in the interest of the kids. Recently had an email on that they could go off to somewhere fancy to dance on stage and before i got to reply, they had announced to the kids in class and started rehearsing! It is not cheap and i find it extremely unfair on those kids whose parents may not be able to afford it but will find it diificult to say no to their child!! It should be up to the parents to decide before announcing to the children!! On this basis, i feel like taking my daughter out! but i know she loves it so much and it helps with her confidance. Problem is she is preparing for grammar school (her choice) and i fear it will interfere with her education as inevitably, she will have to rehearse a lot more. How can i take her out of this place and send her to another place without upsetting her? Anyone experienced a similar situation?

I think this is part and parcel of dance schools unfortunately. A number of friends have been to place like the west end and Disneyland Paris for their children to perform. The cost of the whole trip is down to them but they also pay for additional rehearsals, costumes etc for the performance.
