Anyone move to kendal area from down south?

Thinking if kendal as an option to relocate as a family but I dont know anyone there. What are the secondaries like and is it a friendly area to newcomers? Thanks!

I moved up about ten years ago and wouldn’t live anywhere else now.

Pros: lovely town with plenty going on, good transport links back to London etc, easy access to the Lakes, low crime. Secondary schools both very good.

Cons: expensive housing (but possibly cheaper than where you’re moving from!), not a huge amount going on for teenagers if they’re not into the outdoors, flood risk.
