Work college hell stories and how you managed

So, I started a new job a few months back and everyone there is so nice I get on with everyone… except one.

Just to say we are both females in a male dominated role so I get it could be that I’m encroaching on her territory but I have no idea how to deal with her. She basically ignores me to point that she can but will make brews and do stuff for other team members but won’t even say hi to me even though I try to make conversations with her. I can’t avoid working with her and some days it will be just me and her. She’s said things to other staff members about how I’m struggling with the work (I’m not) and that I didn’t say bye to her specifically one day (unintentional didn’t particularly say bye to anyone just a passing see ya to everyone) just silly stuff.

Apparently she has form for this and has ready made another female employee leave due to her attitude towards her.

Any advice or stories of how you dealt with someone who took an instant dislike to you for no reason?

Personally I’d just absolutely blank her and make her feel unbearably uncomfortable in my presence but then I’m a petty twat like that if I’m backed up against a wall.
Don’t ask her why she dislikes you - don’t give her the satisfaction of knowing it bothers you.

I can totally sympathize with this, I had the same situation once and it just makes work so miserable.
I ended up very calmly and constructively having it out with the lady and making sure I did it in public, it really made her come off so appallingly bad because she was clearly being a b***. Helps others to see what’s she like and then you can either escalate if no actions are taken or file an HR complaint if it’s really causing you a hostile work environment.

@Lipsandlashes I wish I could be petty like that but I’m too nice for my own good.

@redxlondon it’s shit isn’t. There’s absolutely no need for it. The thing is everyone knows what she’s like as they’ve all mentioned her ‘moods’ to me.
