Soft contact lenses question

MistySkiesAfterRain · 21/11/2021 21:59

I need some soft contact lenses urgently (I have gas permeable but I can't find them and need lenses for next weekend-a week or months worth will do, until my super expensive gas permeable ones turn up!).

I got some glasses with specsavers a couple of years ago. I don't mind having an eye test if they want me to, but how quick can I get the contact lenses?

Probably fastest to just buy yourself a/two boxes of dailies online. Looking up the brand I use (Clariti) gives me Visiondirect and Lenstore as the first results, both of which claim to deliver for the next day.

If you have a contact lens check at an opticians, you usually have to wait about a week IME before you get the lenses. I don't know about Specsavers, but mine do have some open boxes that they sometimes use for the checkups if they want you to take yours out, so if you were a client ordering anyway you could probably get them to give you two days' worth for an emergency. I wouldn't rate your chances of getting an appointment for tomorrow and then the lenses by Friday.

I’m with Specsavers but when I need extra or I’ve run out and need them urgently, I buy them online at the Lenstore. They come within a day or two.

I'm not sure if the prescription for gas permeables and soft would be the same? Whenever I change my soft lens prescription the optician manages to get me trial ones in about 3 days after the checkup, I'd ring your optician in the morning and see what they suggest.

I agree, I'm sure the prescription for gas permeables is different from soft lenses. (I'm a gas permeable wearer)

When I was in a similar situation I was able to get an appointment with an optician at Specsavers and he sold me daily lenses from store stock. It could be that I was just lucky though. That was before Covid.

Get a lens appointment at Specsavers and once you know the prescription you can order online.

Glasses strength and lens strength are different I think 🤔

Most opticians will give you a few pairs to trial when you go to your appointment. Book ASAP and use the free ones

If you have a prescription you can buy them online, I had them from Asda
