I just wanted to warn people, really. Fell in love with a sofa at dfs. Went to the store, sat on it to make sure it was comfortable etc etc. Placed an order. They told me they would need 20% deposit ASAP, which could be paid in store, over the phone or online, and the remainder of the money 48 hours before delivery. They gave me a 14 week lead time. Fine, I guess they're busy, all good.
We paid nearly 50% online, simply because I had the money available, and would rather pay in chunks when I have it. I have the receipt for this payment and I can see they have claimed the funds from my credit card (paid on that so I have section 75 protection, and then I just paid the credit card bill)
Last night they rang me to tell me I needed to pay the deposit. I confirmed I have, gave them the date and time the payment was made, the method (online) and that I have a receipt from them and they've claimed the funds. They told me I hadn't made a payment.
Ive just looked online and as well as taking my £600 they say I've not paid, they've also cancelled my order. I know I will be able to raise a dispute with the credit card company and I will of course, but I also know I will have to wait for them to investigate it (fine, not their fault!) before I will try the funds back to order another sofa. So, it's highly likely my mid February sofa will now be mid March or later. I am unimpressed
I know for some people this would cause them real issues, if they're ordering a first sofa because they've not got one yet, or if their sofa is broken. So, be very wary if you're buying from DFS.
Also if anyone has seen any pink velvet sofas anywhere else, especially if you've also managed to try out the sofa, I'd be so grateful to hear where from!
