Dyson Airwrap

Looking at potentially getting a dyson airwrap as a joint Christmas birthday present as I know theyre pricey but I have a question.

Can you use on dry hair or will I need a sprayer to dampen it each morning? I know I can use the hair dryer attachment to get it to damp straight out the shower but can't really find anywhere if I can use the brush / curlers on dry hair to style it if I haven't washed it?

I have an airwrap and no, the curling barrels will not work on dry hair! Well they will but it'll fall out in minutes. The whole premise of the air wrap is that it dries your hair as you style it - this is what makes the curls stay as it's not as hot as an iron would be (much better for your hair). Watch lots of videos to get an idea of it but make sure you watch ones of people using it properly. There are so many poorly done reviews of it where the person hasn't bothered to learn how to use it properly. It takes a few goes to get the hang of it once you have it too so don't loose faith.

I mostly dry mine to damp and then used the smoothing brush or round brush after. If I want it really sleek I run my straighteners over it. I don't curl it that often as I have quite short hair and in the process of growing it so I use the loose curling barrels to get waves when I do. You can customise the attachments to your hair type on the Dyson website.

You could just get a water spray bottle for the mornings you're not washing your hair. Would also recommend L'Oréal PLY spray to help with hold Smile

I use mine on dry hair sometimes, it does work pretty well but I do find that the style will hold better if I use it on damp hair.

That's great thank you 😊 I assumed not just wanted to be prepared, I'll make sure I've got a sprayer etc.

Do you find it stays straight / curled pretty well? I've recently had my hair cut shorter but still long enough for some curls however I will be regrowing it so I'd really like something that holds.

When I do it straight it stays really well but my hair is naturally quite straight. It gives it that hair dresser feel when they properly blow dry it. I was always useless at blow drying normally and just blasted it and straitened it a lot, so it's great for me. The curls stay but for my hair I have to get the dampness level right and use a hold spray, this is because I don't have naturally curly hair and it's also quite fine. If you have course hair it'll work even better.
