I think these are cute, and show it's something she really enjoys Smile

LittleDandelionClock · 20/11/2021 14:29

2 or 3.

Elodeastar · 20/11/2021 14:30

Anything from 3-12 depending on their skills and interest in art. Why are you asking?

RobinPenguins · 20/11/2021 14:34

I think it’s really good for 3 but my 4 year old is shite at art so I probably have low expectations.

ikeepseeingit · 20/11/2021 14:38

Based on this picture of the drawing developmental stages I would say she is at the slightly higher end of normal for her age. She appears to have a good understanding of proportion but does not yet have necks on her people, or landscapes around them. I'm glad she is happy creating, it's a great thing to encourage :)

I'd have said 4/5 and a girl.

pompomsgalore · 20/11/2021 14:52

This is interesting...
It's amazing when their drawing starts developing isn't it.

3

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/11/2021 14:53

Bout average for a 3yr

Has hands and eyes etx in right place

Just 3 or almost 4 can make a diff

MistyFrequencies · 20/11/2021 14:57

It's similar to my 4 yr + 9 month old daughter's drawing ability. But there's no history of artistic talent in my family 😂

oakleaffy · 20/11/2021 14:59

I’d say 3 maybe younger as my son would draw hands like that -with a square body

Opalfeet · 20/11/2021 14:59

My son is almost 4 and nowhere near this, I think he must be behind as far as drawing and painting is concerned. But I would say this is good for her age. Perhaps I'm not going me to judge though considering my child is clearly behind in this respect.

I evidently stopped progressing at 4years old.
Opalfeet · 20/11/2021 15:01

Me too @Ducksurprise my art teacher write that I had the drawing ability of an 8 year old when o was 13. 🤣🤣

RisingSunn · 20/11/2021 15:04

I would say 3 or 4.

BurntO · 20/11/2021 15:05

4

HosannainExcelSheets · 20/11/2021 15:08

Anywhere from 2-8 depending on the child

Sittinginthesand · 20/11/2021 15:09

3 or 4. Hope the paint comes off your table!

Nevermindthesquirrels · 20/11/2021 15:11

I think it's good but no, not exceptional. I think it depends on context too. Is your family quite artistic?
For context this was my DD age 4 (beginning of reception). She was always an amazing drawer, very very detailed from early on. She was incredible at art but very dyslexic and not academic at all. Her handwriting is abysmal but she can draw incredibly well. She's 14 now and doesn't touch a pencil anymore. She was obsessed with art until about 12 but hated it once she started secondary school. Didn't even choose it for GCSE. Wasted talent in my eyes but she's happy doing other things.
Carry on being proud, it's great. Frame as much as you can or laminate, you'll love looking back at it once she's older.

Have you had children not follow the typical stages of drawing? Just curious as DS started more with outlines, for example he drew a recognisable cat curled up at two and a half, one line showing the head shape with ears, around for the body and tail then added eyes. He never did the heads with legs or similar. Wondering how common this is?

One of mine used to draw feet and legs but not necessarily bother with the heads. He's autistic. Not sure if it's connected.

MsJuniper · 20/11/2021 15:14

My DD is 3 and definitely can't draw like that. I'd guess 4-6.

ikeepseeingit · 20/11/2021 15:14

@Ducksurprise We can't all be good at everything! I'm sure you can draw better than you did at 4. To be fair, I have the maths ability of a ten-year-old but was advanced in art as a young teen. 😂

JumperandJacket · 20/11/2021 15:15

Lovely pictures, would guess about 3. Don’t overthink it, OP, just enjoy your child enjoying art.

MsJuniper · 20/11/2021 15:15

Sorry I missed your update. It's good for 4.

KaycePollard · 20/11/2021 15:18

but I do think it's above average?

Why is this important to you? She's three. She's probably not so good at other things that other 3 year olds can do easily. It doesn't matter.

It.Really.Doesn't.Matter.
