ABC just stop it ! It could even be when they were thinking about ttc. So presumptuous.

shenanigans5 · 20/11/2021 13:03

@Hollyhead

It’s not average for a 3 year old!
Based on what I’ve seen produced at my daughters preschool I think it is. Some can’t draw as nicely as that but others do pictures with lots of detail and care- they can draw better than I can 🤣
WayneBruce · 20/11/2021 13:06

I think its good for 3 as they actually have bodies, rather than legs coming straight from the head.

HeronLanyon · 20/11/2021 13:07

I think it’s great for three even a day away from 4. Partic the hair for some reason and their stance !

Spacerader · 20/11/2021 13:07

I work with three year old, and that is not the average quality picture of a 3 year old.

I would say between 4 and 6, depending in thier skills

Sperm art 🤣🤣 not sure I'd want that stuck on my fridge.
Jmaho · 20/11/2021 13:08

My daughter is 4 next month and she couldn't draw like this

Morgan12 · 20/11/2021 13:09

My 3 year old wouldn't be able to do this. I think this is great for 3!

SingingSands · 20/11/2021 13:09

3-4 I'd say. I'll also say that's its lovely, it made me smile Smile

crosbystillsandmash · 20/11/2021 13:12

That's actually exceptionally good for 3.
I work in an early years setting attached to a primary school, it's very rare that a child in my class can draw or paint like that, they are 3 when they start with me.
The children in the year above often draw or paint in a similar way but many don't.

Keep on encouraging her!

@HeronLanyon

3 or 4. What is that in the far right hand ??
It's the sun and the sky.

She tells me it's a drawing of her and her sister holding hands.

I thought 4 too.

Is she just 3 or nearly 4?

supermoonrising · 20/11/2021 13:17

3 or 4? Pffft. I’d say thats extremely impressive for a 3/4 year old. More “average” of probably a 6 year old? In fact, I’m 42 and couldn’t do much better.

ApplesAreTheBaneOfMyLife · 20/11/2021 13:18

It’s good for 3. I would be proud in your shoes too.

Could also just as easily be done by my 13 yo who has zero aptitude or interest in drawing.

pumpedupkick · 20/11/2021 13:18

My DC is 7 next week and they would paint something like this, I think for a 3yo that's really impressive!

LynetteScavo · 20/11/2021 13:19

I have a very similar painting I did aged 3 years 4 months. My mum must have thought it was good because she kept it, and wrote my exact age on it.

I got a B in GCSE art, but that's as far as my artistic talents went.

nc198567 · 20/11/2021 13:21

Is she just 3 or nearly 4?

Nearly 4 but tbh this isn't an "exceptional" piece of artwork from her. This is just something she drew in 10 minutes whilst waiting for a snack. She can do much better and much more detailed work than this.

I'm not trying to gauge whether my kid is a genius, but I do think it's above average?

OP posts:
Tsubasa1 · 20/11/2021 13:22

3

Elephantsparade · 20/11/2021 13:22

I d say 5-6
A lot of 3-4 year olds are still attaching the legs straight to the head at 3 even 4. My son at 4 didnt have all the face features in place but he was a bit slow.

Oftenithinkaboutit · 20/11/2021 13:23

So why not start a thread using one of the “much better and much more detailed ones” and instead one she cobbled together “in 10 minutes waiting for a snack”? Confused

MajorCarolDanvers · 20/11/2021 13:25

Looks similar to a flip chart feedback sheet some of my colleagues prepared in a meeting this week. They were in their 40s.

LadyCleathStuart · 20/11/2021 13:26

My DD is a fantastic wee artist and could draw like this at 3, she is 5 now and her stuff is great, she really works hard on it, its her 'thing' so to speak.

You should be proud OP, I am of my DD.

My DS was just drawing scribbles still at 3/4.

Ok. Here's a self portrait play doh she did a month ago or so.

I think it's impressive. She says she's wearing a dress, in her right hand she's holding a sandwich, the other side is bows in her plait. The butterflies above her head are cookie cutouts so can't take credit for that entirely.

Another photo, she did an elephant.
