I’m waiting for a Covid test to be delivered and it reminded me of some of the people working extra hours and shifts and I wanted to say thanks. Please add more -
Thanks to
Medical and education and carers at all levels
Postmen and women and throughout the post service
Testers and those analysing tests
Cleaners in almost all work places, houses and care homes
Supermarket staff and logistics
Volunteers in food bank and other charities that have seen increased need
Job centre staff - there are some doing a great job, often under stress and sometimes threatened
Drivers in public transport

Who have I missed?

Volunteers at the vaccination clinics.

My local one has volunteer car park attendants, check-in-at-the-door people, check-in-at-the-vaccination-pod people, waiting room supervisors etc - it takes around 20 volunteers to cover every session.

Yes! Plus the people doing Covid research. Not just those working on understanding the virus - without research we’d have no tests and no vaccines.

Thanks both.
Social workers in Children SW that will have saved or improved countless lives, when unfortunately we hear (rightly) when it goes wrong.

Council and hospital Social Workers doing their best to find places for rehab or housing for people ready for discharge

I know you've said education but nursery staff deserve a special mention. No social distancing at all and children in every day at the moment with snotty noses and coughs and coming from households with positive cases.

GuidingSpirit · 22/11/2021 22:20

@thanksamillion This is so true and many of them stayed open even when schools were closed. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Kummerspeck · 22/11/2021 22:22

I think pharmacy staff deserve a mention. They worked throughout the pandemic with a greatly increased workload and take large amounts of shit from the public

Bagadverts · 22/11/2021 22:32

Good calls - Also doctors and hospital receptionists.

What about the people that keep/ kept the utilities going, internet, tv, phone signals. Farmers for growing providing the raw ingredients, drivers for collecting from the farms, factory workers for turning the stuff into food. Prison officers, animal shelters, vets for large and small animals.
