Is this a bit off?

My child was diagnosed with autism this week, I emailed the school on Tuesday to let them know and I have heard nothing.

Is this standard? They haven’t even acknowledged the email! What should I be expecting from them?

You need to email the senco. If no response, then give them a call.

I would expect a reply, personally.

Yes I'd expect a reply.

It is a bit off yes. However also be aware that there are a lot of staff shortages in schools at the moment due to covid. Even if the person you've emailed may well be in school and working, it could be that they're also picking up someone else's work as well.

As much as people may be wanting to reply, work loads are absolutely vast.

When my child was diagnosed I got a phone call from both senco and class teacher within the day to talk about it, ask how I was feeling, how child was, explain next steps etc. I’d expect a response, yes.

But depending on who you emailed it’s possible it’s got lost in the office to staff member chain, someone is off sick, your mail has been bounced by a filter…

Can you talk to your child’s teacher at pick up to ask for a chat? Or phone the office and find out what’s going on?
