Song lyrics that make you think of your ex

A song by Robbie Williams just came on the radio, it was called "Different" and one of the verses really struck me

"You took my youth, you took my health, and if you're not here I fight myself"

Really made me think of the relationship (if you can call it that) I have with my sons dad. I really do feel like he stole my youth and my health!

Anyone else ever get struck by lyrics that relate to an ex?

Golden Leaves by Passenger.

We both used to choke up when we heard it when we'd decided our marriage was over. Very sad lyrics.

Broken Strings by James Morrison
"Oh, it tears me up
I tried to hold on but it hurts too much
I tried to forgive but it's not enough
To make it all okay
You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything
That your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Oh, the truth hurts and lies worse
How can I give anymore?
When I love you a little less than before?"

AdamRyan I love that song

Mine is Foundations by Kate Nash

Your face is pasty
'Cause you've gone and got so wasted
What a surprise
Don't want to look at your face
'Cause it's making me sick
You've gone and got sick on my trainers
I only got these yesterday
Oh my gosh, I cannot be bothered with this
Well I'll leave you there 'til the morning
And I purposely won't turn the heating on
And dear God, I hope I'm not stuck with this one

We were both at college, and he had to go away for the summer on an archaeological dig. I gave him a copy of Dedicated To The One I Love, because of the lines "While I'm far away from you, my baby, I know it's hard for you,my baby..." By the time he came back, I'd decided to move on, and had to tell him. I can still see that shocked young face, and think about him whenever I hear that song. I wonder what he did with the record, possibly smashed it up!
