If you're an engagement manager, could you tell me what your role is about?

I've got an interview for this role (I didn't apply for it, but the one that I originally applied for turned out to be almost taken, so they offered me this one instead). I feel I understand it, but would like more perspective. Tia

Ask them gor a job desription and some more info on how the job fits into the organisation, as it's the kind of role that varies.

I've got the job spec. It seems to me like a business dev/sales oriented (but not quite) consultancy role. Project management of execution, loading internally, and checking that everything is in place before they're moved forward to the next stage/team.

Husband says it's usually a client relationship role between client and supplier. Dealing with issues and such like sometimes across many projects. A bit like sales, but broader. He says to Google it.

He isn't one himself, but works in the same environment.

He said more, but he's in the shower now and the rest of what he said went right over my head. Grin

Thanks @knitting that's very similar to what they explained to me! I feel it's a bit like a "business concierge".

You're responsible for projects and delivery so it's more than a client relationships role.
Engagement manager is a lot more senior. It's like a leader of the team. Responsible for client relationships, project pipeline, project execution.
In consulting anyway.
A lot of best consulting firms (McKinsey, Bain, Oliver Wyman) have engagement managers. EMs usually have consultants, senior consultants, analysts reporting to them.

Thanks ladies, they're going to put me forward to the next stage with the VP!
