Would you recommend iPad mini?

I use mainly use my phone for forums and internet shopping but feel that my eyes are straining a little due the small text size.

Wondering whether an iPad mini might be more useful - are they more comfortable to use than a phone and would you recommend? Or is there anything else that might be better?

I would. I find it just the right size, bigger than a phone but easy to hold and use. I bought a larger iPad but gave it to a friend as it wasn't so comfortable in the hand.
