So last month my daughter was in hospital on oxygen with a pretty bad chest infection. I've been full of cold and I now have what I think is a chest infection. I'm asthmatic and I have a tight chest, breathless, coughing up green stuff and generally feel crap.
So since covid our gp surgery has an e consult. Fill it in. Doctor rings, face to face appointment if needed. They've scrapped that and want you to ring at 8am. I can't do that. For starters I never get through. By the time I get through there's no appointments. Second I work early morning shifts. So on the off chance my break coincides with 8am im not gonna get thru. I get it, there all struggling, the nhs is struggling and so are gp surgeries.
I asked if I could send my husband up at 8am to book an appointment and got a flat out no.
The receptionist told me to call 111. I tried them last night and am still awaiting a call back which was supposed to have been 6 hours after the initial contact.
What am I supposed to do? I have had asthma for years and am 99 percent certain it's a chest infection. Im wheezing, and I'm getting worried now.
There's no walk ins around here. Nearest is 17 miles away. I don't drive and I dread to think the cost of a taxi
I reallly don't know what ti do. Plus my husband has gone to work now so unless I wake my 1 year old I'm kinda stuck here
