Exams & Education in Scotland

Hi there! My son has been quite anxious about the upcoming National 5 Prelims in Scotland having rushed through topics in multiple subjects from August to December.

I disagree wholeheartedly with exams being carried out in December this year with pupils getting near-to-no study leave to prepare. Why are our kids being set up for failure?

Take this article as an example from a school. One school with 500 signatures from parents AND pupils saying they don’t feel well enough prepared.

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Is it prelims? This might be a good way to gauge how badly prepared the kids are.

Yeah, it’s the upcoming prelims in under 3 weeks. It’s honestly a shambles.

My dc's school have just done pre-prelims and they will still be doing prelims in January!

Thankfully dc is doing fine but I imagine there are many children who are not.

However, I do think that the testing will expose the gaps and allow teachers to focus on catching up, maybe that's naive of me?
