At least I am laughing about it.

A while ago I was seeing a guy for a short while, he then proceeded to ghost me.

I have not heard from him or seen him since last year. Today whilst I was driving, he passed me while I was coming out of the slip lane, so he was then one car ahead of me. My curiosity got the better of me, so I overtook him, and yip there he was. So for a while we drove, me doing some stalking in the rearview mirror, he then overtook me. I was sure he knew it was me as glanced my way as he did. A few minutes later (I was behind him now) he indicates to pull into the services, so I say fuck it, I will too.... as I wanted to see what he would do when he saw me.

So he pulls in to the pump, and I pull into the pump next to him (I wasn't in dire need of any fuel btw). Casually do my thing there, he gets out the car...

It isn't him!

Ffs. So I had done some following, overtaking, stalking and planned a "oh what a surprise to see you here" kind of thing.... to no avail.

Still don't know why he ghosted me.

This is lighthearted, I don't really care too much about it, but I got caught up in the moment of trying to solve a mystery......

At least I don't need to fill up at the weekend..... always a silver cloud Smile

The poor fella is probably telling his Mrs that a deranged woman was stalking him on the motorway. She's probably thinking he's lying & minimising a relationship with Shirley from accounts. Later on today, there'll be a thread on AIBU 'Dh is having an affair & meeting lover at petrol pump on the M25' etc, etc. You've started a domino affect in someone's life OP!

GreenTeaPingPong · 17/11/2021 17:42

But this could have been the 'meet cute' at the beginning of a beautiful rom-com! (If he was attractive)

StellarDella · 17/11/2021 17:48

If I was the ex I would find that really really really creepy and it would really worry me.

PandaP0p · 17/11/2021 17:52

It's quite amusing but just shows he was probably right to ghost you!

PandaP0p · 17/11/2021 17:52

I mean, imagine if a bloke did this to a woman who had decided to stop seeing him

LadyCatStark · 17/11/2021 17:55

That was an expensive mistake. Filling up our car at a service station 😵.

LadyCatStark · 17/11/2021 17:55

pinkgin85 · 17/11/2021 17:57

That's....intense

Suzi888 · 17/11/2021 17:58

🤣

MarmitesMyMate · 17/11/2021 18:03

He was prob trying to escape you.. He also didn't want to pay service station prices lol

immersivereader · 17/11/2021 18:05

Did he say hello glenn?

Boonlark · 17/11/2021 18:06

That's not funny, that's stalker behaviour. Might be worth getting some therapy?

BuggerOrfDeary · 17/11/2021 18:07

Well, it made me laugh Grin

RonSwansonsChair · 17/11/2021 18:07

Grin he probably pulled into the petrol station to lose you. Poor guy, you freaked him out Grin

WaltzingBetty · 17/11/2021 18:09

You need some serious boundaries

SameToo · 17/11/2021 18:10

Yeah I find that creepy not amusing. What on earth possessed you?

acatcalledjohn · 17/11/2021 18:13

Exactly this.

You have issues, OP. This isn't remotely funny.

Hellocatshome · 17/11/2021 18:14

You know those campaigns they have in pubs in the women's toilets where it says if you need help getting away from a date ask the bar person for "Angela" or whatever it is. I wonder if they have a similar version for men at motorway services? And if they dont maybe they should.

TheSilveryPussycat · 17/11/2021 18:16

You had nothing to lose, and went for it. Well done! Sorry it turned out wrong.

I used to get into friendly overtaking "wars" with lorry drivers, in my underpowered car, many years ago. Livened up both our journeys.

Though never pulled into a service station with any of them Grin

Alwayswonderedwhy · 17/11/2021 18:19

That's not normal behaviour. I think you know why he ghosted you!

“Well done” ? Hmm would you be saying the same if a bloke was typing about following a lone woman? ‘Overtaking wars’ i.e dangerous manoeuvres in motor vehicles because you were too busy livening up your journey to give 100% attention to the road. Aye, ‘well done’.
Strangevipers · 17/11/2021 18:24

Ignore the drama queens

You are not a creepy stalker that men need a safe word to escape you!

Obviously you thought it was him and you thought he had recognised you so what you did was funny . It's almost as if he ghosted you and this was your chance to embarrass him for it

HaroldSteptoesHorse · 17/11/2021 18:24

I’m feeling very pissed off very jealous that a manager (male) said to my work colleague (beautiful woman) ‘oh X you look very nice today’ she did look nice
