I read the series years ago and have seen many WoT inspired names on here so I'm wondering if anyone is planning to watch the new series on amazon starting on Friday

Yeah i will be! Not really impressed with rosamund pike as moiraine tbh. She looks too old and the trailers look like they've cast morticia addams. Shame as she's my favourite character. But I'll give it a go.

SirenSays · 17/11/2021 15:04

I'm planning to watch it, tbh I don't know anything about the story but it's been getting so much hype for ages so it better be good.

I can’t wait. I’m going to get Amazon Prime especially for it.
I first read the first book in my very early 20’s and I’m now over 50. And Robert Jordan died 😞.
The AES Sedai have wrinkles, no no no. Plus Moiraine the actress is too tall.

Yes

I am beyond excited but also a bit nervous.

I’ve read the books so many times and currently re-reading again.

However some casting looks off. Lan is not what I imagined (although actually I think it’ll
Be ok). Same for Perrin and Mat

Padan Fain - flat nope. Wrong wrong wrong. Same for thom.

Moraine - well any aes sedai is hard to cast because of that ageless look. But she should look younger to me.

Yes, really looking forward to it. Not happy with casting Ros Pike as Moiraine but hopefully she’ll win me round.

Talisin · 17/11/2021 16:05

Am wondering how they’re going to deal with the Elaine/Min/Avienda, um, situation though…

MouseholeCat · 17/11/2021 17:05

Really excited for it. I read the books over the summer while I was heavily pregnant after DH told me the series was coming out.

picklemewalnuts · 17/11/2021 17:07

Looking forward to it! Such a great series.

KatherineHoward · 17/11/2021 17:31

They could make all of the Aes Sedai have Botox 😂 .
I can’t be bothered to reread all the books. 14 books, Robert Jordon could have done with a better editor.

winewolfhowls · 17/11/2021 19:15

I am! Up to book 4 now, my favourite character is perrin or lan thus far.

DuneFan · 17/11/2021 19:21

I read up to book 12 and then got stuck. Agree about a better editor needed. . . There's so much story and it's so complex, I'm really struggling to see how they will make it into TV. Dont have Amazon anyway atm so will wait to see what general views are and maybe try to get through it on the free trial.

Notimetolive · 17/11/2021 19:25

Loved the books. Don’t have Amazon unfortunately otherwise I’d be watching.

BonteGracieuse · 17/11/2021 19:44

Agree some of the casting looks less than perfect, but just hope that the acting will make up for it.

Have to see how Mat comes out, he grew to be my favourite character. Shame Jordan died and then Sanderson didn't quite catch the character for the finale.

Faircastle · 17/11/2021 19:53

I read a fair number of the books (9 or 10?) at the time, but remember little about them.

I'll give it a go.

InTheCludgie · 18/11/2021 10:29

DH and i will be watching, he is currently on book 5 and I'm halfway through book 1 atm so don't feel (yet!) that I have any opinion yet on the actors that have been cast. Anyone know how many of the books this season will cover?
