Netflix app help? (Bonus Q for crafty types haha)

Hi, I am probably being really dense here and missing something very obvious so apologies in advance 😅

I've bought a refurbished iPad for DS for Christmas and have started losing apps so it's ready to use. I had assumed there was a Netflix kids app but I can't find one!

So on to my question, I'm just wondering whether there is a way to set the app to only show the kids profile?

As an aside, do any crafty MNers have any inspiration for homemade gift box/wrapping? The iPad hasn't come with any original packaging so would like to make something nice to present it in 😁 my only idea so far is making a nice pouch with felt fabric but that doesn't seem very sturdy/protective.

Thanks in advance!

I think you can put a pin on the adult profiles.

BananaPB · 17/11/2021 13:16

You can protect the adult profiles so they can only access their profile.

Thank you, I will password protect the adult profile so he can't access them.
I still think a Netflix kids app would've been a good idea 😁

You need to create a box with a thick card insert (cover the insert with self-adhesive velvet [Amazon have some] to look good) to slot the iPad in. You could decoupage the outer box with his favourite cartoon/film characters and images - that way he might be inclined to put it away in the box when he's not using it.

It's not crafty, but I think you do really need a proper iPad cover to protect the screen that works as a stand also. It's a pain if you don't have a stand.

Oh yes, I will definitely be getting a proper case for it too 😅 I was thinking more along the lines of gift packaging/boxing.

While I absolutely encourage you to password or pin protect the adult profiles, remember also to never put in your password when your DC can see even the pattern of numbers you are using.

You h children very easily work out the passwords from watching you.

I will keep that in mind!
I'm not too worried at the moment as I know he is very wary of seeing anything scary (he's gotten scared by some images for tv shows after his dad left his profile open on the tv) but I know as he gets older and possibly hears other children talking in the playground, he will probably get more curious!

In that case, a pouch that can also be used as an extra protective cover would be good. The magnetic stand type covers don't protect the back from scratches.

You can password protect the adult profile and set up an age restricted child's profile on Netflix.

You can set it so it shows things that appropriate for up to a certain age, and if you disagree with an age classification you can remove specific shows from being searchable within the kids profile.

We had to do this with one of my kids as she was very grumpy if asked to stop watching a specific show so I banned it and removed it from the profile to solve the issue!
