Special/nice things to do in London next month

I’m coming to London next month with my mum and DS to watch a show. It’ll be finished about 4.30/5 and our train isn’t until 9 (from Euston).

My mum wanted to go up the shard for a treat but the reviews aren’t that good. Is there anywhere else special we can go to for food/something to do. I just don’t want to spend 4 hours wandering around in the cold and really make the most of our day. DS is 8. Thanks

Covent Garden is nice to wander around.

Harrods closes at 7pm (mon - wed) and 8pm (thu-sat) so may be worth considering as somewhere to go that’s inside and warm.

Harrods

Covent Garden is also worth considering for a wander, and closes at 8pm. It’s got various Christmas attractions.

The Shard is horrendously expensive for basically a fast lift ride and 10 minutes of looking at (at this time of year) lots of lights in the dark.

There’s usually an ice rink at Somerset House which is a lovely thing to do.

London Eye is obvious if you haven't done it before.

Covent garden and a restaurant near there eg balthazar or rules, or the romantic one etc
Or soho, cg and China Town.

You could see if you can get tickets for the Sky Garden. It's right opposite The Shard but it's free and the view is fab. Then you walk past the Tower of London and grab some dinner at one of the restaurants in St Katherine's Dock.

I agree on Sky Garden. If the timings work for you you can book the bistro up there for an early dinner. You don’t need a separate ticket then, and can walk around the gardens and take in the views as well as having a meal.
