Kitchen Disco - Children in Need

I know what a good cause this is, but I've just had a look at Sophie Ellis Bextor's Kitchen Disco and...what's the point?

Understandably she's got to pace herself but it's utterly boring. Why would it make people donate?

I don’t know but I’m looking forward to hearing about something other than the guy who did the drumming on bbc breakfast. I’ve had to relive that footage about five times. Then they tell him how much he’s raised and he cries again. I’m sick of it 😂

Not a big fan of children in need. I like SEB. Isn't it just that she is on television dancing for 24 hours. Good going I say.

LagneyandCasey · 16/11/2021 18:29

People, particularly younger ones, watch TV less and less these days so I doubt the actual CIN show gets anywhere near the amount of viewers - and donators - that it got in the past. The disco, drumathon, rickshaw challenge etc get shared around a lot on social media so it's a way of getting donations.

Not interested to be fair 🤷‍♀️

It's happening just a few days after Owain's drumming which was absolutely fantastic and much harder work than Sophie's disco (sorry!)

That's the point really, she's not exactly dancing.

Every one I've seen she's just stepped from side to side really

I dont see the point. Radio 2 has been banging on about it all day. Its tedious.

ZenNudist · 16/11/2021 20:33

I took a look when you posted and she started off saying she was going for quantity not quality. Later on you can see it in her eyes that she wishes she hadn't been talked into doing 24 hours of her kitchen disco. Kitchen disco really means middle aged mum of 3/4 bopping in her own kitchen glammed up to the 9s. I think she looks good fun!

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0b37t1s/sophie-ellisbextors-kitchen-disco-danceathon-watch-sophies-challenge-live

I watched it live earlier with Jamie Laing Glitterball - it's fine for background/split screen/listening to music and the odd interview bit - Bonnie Langford, Rylan etc
and I like her costume changes!

StucklnAMuumuuCantGetOutOflt · 16/11/2021 20:53

She is also more active even when Dad dancing one foot to the other than Gary Davies Grin Every so often she does a bit more. But with only 1 five minute break once an hour and having to keep moving for 24, I think you are being awfully unreasonable knocking her for it - you don't have to listen or watch Confused. Rylan did a 24 hour karaoke and said 10pm will hit you, midnight quick boost, 2-6am is a killer.

It's the Radio 2 fundraiser for Children in Need this year so hardly surprising that they are plugging it.

We're watching, Tony Blackburn was a revelation to my teen earlier!

It was on the radio2 driving home, sara cox going on and on, it was all a bit chummy and annoying.

A580Hojas · 16/11/2021 21:52

I switched off Radio 2 at about 11 today and had a great time instead listening to Absolute Radio. It was the Sophie Ellis Bextor show ALL DAY on Radio 2. Too much, a total turn off.

MrsDThomas · 17/11/2021 06:59

I hope it wont be banging on about CIN all day today.

I love radio 2 (its whats on at work) and we set our day to it.

10 am, it cuppa time
Jeremy vine -sandwich time
Steve wright - 2-3 hours till i go home
Sara cox -cook the tea !

whatagloriousthingtobe · 17/11/2021 07:02

Caught it this morning while having a coffee, and she looked shattered. Kept crying a lot aswell I think that's probably the tiredness

Amberflames · 17/11/2021 07:04

Just went to have a look and there’s a note saying she’s on a mandatory break!

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/11/2021 07:07

Tbh I'd rather hear about these challenges than listen to the bloody auction where people you've never heard of bid hundreds of thousands for things you haven't a prayer of ever doing!

SEB has five kids.

LagneyandCasey · 17/11/2021 09:38

It's the TV and radio that keep on about it. Not SEB herself. She's just trying to do some good. She didn't have to do it, she's got a pretty good career.

I'd struggle to stay awake for over 24 hours just sitting on my sofa, let alone standing up and having to keep moving, singing and smiling. It would be like jetlag from hell.

ssd · 17/11/2021 10:05

I agree. SEB seems lovely, but radio2 is getting annoying.
