What makes your babies laugh?

I’ve got a five-month-old and hearing his little chuckle is just the best thing. Things that have unexpectedly got him cracking up include:

  • me having a coughing fit
  • the sound of one of the dog’s toys when it’s thrown in the air and caught
  • a shuttlecock hitting me on the head
  • a napkin being dropped on the floor from a height

So, in the spirit of adding more laughter to the world, what do (or did) your babies find hilarious when you weren’t expecting it?!

Sneezing!
Got me through the hay fever season when ds was 6 months old!

Yes the whole drama around sneezing works best! 😁

DD enjoy me tearing paper up..the sound makes her giggle.

At 5 months my DS loved to blow raspberries, we'd act shocked, he'd laugh his little head off. Over and over and over again.
Thanks for reminding me of this. It's brightened up a dull November day.

Oh, the coughing fit, yes! I have the most wonderful video of 5-month DS laughing fit to bust while I cough like an asthmatic foghorn. Grin

RainbowCrayons · 16/11/2021 14:37

Swearing! Blush
I said 'what the bloody hell is that?' to DH and DS laughed his head off. I felt like a terrible mother but it did remind me of on friends when Emma laughs at baby got back.

When my DS was 5 months he laughed at the sound of a bin bag being shaken out

5mo DD laughs her head off when her big sister jumps up and down

Dropping things (plastic) especially if I had said "oh no". He would laugh like mad! Raspberries on the tummy, "tickle spiders" that my dad did with him, the cat yawning, older children laughing. Such wonderful memories!

MonkeyPuddle · 16/11/2021 14:59

Putting her toys in my head and going ‘what’s on mummies head?’ It’s the height of comedy.

JammyRedRooo · 16/11/2021 15:00

Mine is only 3 months so only just beginning to get giggles but the best so far is pretending to eat her Grin

Saying "What a palaver!" after changing a particularly messy nappy.

Sitting in a bumbo! Totally hilarious to my then 4mo DC

When my eldest was around four months old, shaking one of his socks in front of him while making a silly noise as he sat in his bounce cradle used to have him almost hysterical with laughter for some reason.
It still makes me smile over 30 years later.

Haha! Just on its own?

@Winterfellismyhome my partner scared the life out of DS shaking out a binbag, wonder if I can make it funny for him instead.

Some good ideas here, I’ll try some dramatic sneezing and you’ve reminded me that dropping things always gets a giggle!

@3beesinmybonnet glad to have brought a smile to your day! If you want more baby giggles this is the best video m.youtube.com/watch?v=RP4abiHdQpc
