Omg like what on earth am I hearing? Red wine poured down his throat at 15? Being called the P word... asked if his uncle owned the corner shop...being told to sit near the toilets etc etc I don't think I can't watch cricket again. I hope something is done. This is absolutely disgusting. It's just made me think about how ignorant and rude people can be...

Yes it’s disgusting and should never have happened and of course those involved should be punished appropriately but why is the fact that racism exists such a shock to you?

I wrote it quite quickly. It's not the fact that racism exists shocks me. I know it exists. But the things that were done/said to him really hurt me. You think being called the n word or p word is absolutely disgraceful but there was more to his story which is horrific.

Yes I am well aware of the story, it’s pretty local to me and I know quite a few people from the Asian community who have suffered racism at that and other sports clubs.

I wasn't aware of this story, but obviously it's utterly horrendous and totally unacceptable

This is shocking, like going to the 70s. I feel particularly sad about the loss of his son and the cruel treatment that followed.

I've heard rumours for years about Michael Vaughn's racist behavior, but it's appalling that he is denying it despite Rafiq and other Asian players being witness to it at the time. I really do hope heads roll as Sajid Javid said.

I was watching him today and have only just come across this thread. I don't mind admitting I had a tear in the eye listening to everything he's had to put up with. It must have taken some guts to blow the whistle, I hope he is able to feel proud of himself now.

Absolutely disgusting! It's heartbreaking watching what he went through and how much it has taken a toll on him and his family.
