Just browsing through chats about certain fertility topics and very confused (and got to be honest, irritated) by all the acronyms people are using in their messages... because I can't see any glossary to explain what they all are! eg DS, DD, TTC, MFI, TFF, DH... it just goes on and on! It's quite off putting for new members, but maybe I have missed an explanation page where all the abbreviations are listed? Thank you!

Welcome! Yes- acronym list here. You can find pretty much anything by searching in the search box, acronym list brought up the below 😊

I don’t know all of them, I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will be along in a minute!
DS/DD - dear son or dear daughter. Also used with a number to give their order of birth or their age.
DH/DW/DP - dear husband, dear wife or dear partner.
TTC - trying to conceive
OP - original poster
PP - previous poster
AIBU - am I being unreasonable
YABU - you are being unreasonable
YANBU - you are not being unreasonable

Probably loads more I don’t know or can’t remember!

If you look above your post 👆 where it says ‘Talk’ in big letters, click the down arrow and Acronyms is one of the subjects.

Well I never knew about the list, thank you !

The acronym link is helpful but a couple of comments on it:

BM usually means breastmilk rather than birth mother or boss mum

CF means cheeky fucker rather than cystic fibrosis (unless perhaps you’re on the SN board)

And quite a few of the others I’ve never seen used on MN…

Ah ha, thank you. Seen it now. I'm not a big lover of jargon at the best of times, but I guess I will have to learn!

Maybe the link to the acronyms list could be made more obvious alongside each talk thread.
