Unfuck the house!

I need motivation this morning.
Worked all weekend and yesterday so the house has become a shithole.
Today is my only day off and all I want to do is lay on the sofa, but guests this afternoon.
So, using unfuck your habitat crisis cleaning list, I am going to get going.
Anyone wan to join in and we can motivate on our breaks?

I have been having dizzy spells followed up by a massive vertigo attack yesterday. The only unfucking today will be mid level where I do not have to look up or down.

We have new bins which I can't access. Rely on ex to take the rubbish down when he returns a child.

I can definitely recommend the take a break thing, or rather I think 'I'll do ten intensive minutes then take a break'. Usually at the ten minute mark I'm in the middle of something so I think 'I'll just finish this', which of course leads to 'I'll just put that away/wipe this/clear out that' and soon I'll have done almost an hour, when I really do take a break!
Having guests is the greatest motivation - I've just wiped down all the counters, put the dishwasher on and cleaned the litter box as I'm expecting someone this morning! I even hung a painting...

Just tidy the rooms they'll go in, chuck everything in a black bed and hide it
Open the windows for a bit and spray furniture polish around the room
Job done

I can hoover the lounge and move all the junk around and spray air freshner, open a window and plump the cushions in one ad break! The next ad break I can mop the hall way and tidy the shoes and coats! The next ad break I take the rubbish out and wipe down the sides in the kitchen and put dishes in to soak and sweep the floor,Next ad break take all stuff up thats been on the stairs ready to go back in bedrooms etc and quick tidy of bathroom,It seriously is amazing what you can do! Say you were indulging in loose women etc you have 4 ad breaks and my husband thinks I have been at it all day the housework!!!!!!! Try my system promise you it works!!

Right, that's the first 45 mjns done and the downstairs two rooms down. I do need to hoover but will do the whole house at once. I suspect the kitchen will also be last as I can see kids plates lurking upstairs.
Quick break then back at it!

Thanks so much for sharing this. I've done my first 45 - Whizzed round and collected all rubbish from 2 bedrooms (I won't start rooting through my teens' rooms until I've checked with them). I've collected all the dirty washing (boys' room was awful,) and have bagged up everything on the floor to put away when they get home from school. Emptied the dishwasher ready for me to do a dishes sweep. I've thrown a wash in but it's only towels so a quick win there.

I'm having 30 mins now for lunch and a brew then it's dishes, then I've got 3 wash loads of clean laundry to put away in my room. Including fresh sheets for the bed.

I love UFYH.
I developed a new method last week. Put on my YouTube music mix and tidied a room for the length of each track. Then onto the next room. I managed this for two hours and blitzed loads of things. It's a lot of back and forth but I hate being stuck in a messy room for long and it broke it down into 3-4 minute chunks.

JeansOnTheRads · 16/11/2021 14:10

All I have left to do now is hoover and the kitchen of death. well, and shower before the school run!

This is a great idea! Well I haven't got any further because I forgot about a zoom meeting I had but back to it now!

crack it's quite satisfying going room to room constantly. It's a constant improvement. Instead of slugging away in one room then going to the next to start again.
