What is this on my daughters foot?

My daughter has a small painful lump on her heel & there is now a streak across her heel too. I'll book a Dr's appointment tomorrow, but any idea what it could be? There's no obvious wound etc.

Does the line go around the back of her ankle too? Just wondering if she could have been bitten by a tick and it's a bullseye from Lyme disease?

Whatever it is, I would draw a line in pen around the outer edge to see if it gets worse.

Thanks Nigella, I've drawn around it now. No the line stops where it thins off towards her inner ankle bone.
Yesterday there was just a small bump where the red line widens at the bottom on her heel. That's still a painful bump today. The red streak is new & is worrying me though. She says it's painful to put weight on. She's fine in herself etc.

I personally would get that checked at OOH’s.

I’m sure it’s very innocent but I’d be definitely would double check that there is no infection there and the line is not sepsis travelling.

I'm no expert but the trailing red line looks to me like a bacterial infection in the lymph system (my DD had similar from a spider bite). I'd get her seen ASAP, making sure you mark the progress of the line. My DD required immediate antibiotics to deal with it before it reached the lymph nodes.

I think you need to put a mark where the thinner red line is - it could be an infection on her foot that is tracking a vein. Possibly cellulitis. She needs to be soon as soon as possible - personally I wouldn’t wait if that tracking is moving upwards

Yes I was going to say tracking too.
Trip to a and e tonight for antibiotics I think.
My son had similar from a bite. Tracking up his arm. Given strong antibiotics and hospital said keep a close eye on if it gets worse come back. We were on holiday at the time!

I agree with pps get it seen tonight. It could be nothing or it could be an infection that needs sorting ASAP

Hi everyone, I'm back to update you all. Thanks to everyone for commenting last night. I kept a close eye on her overnight & took her to minor injuries today. The streak had gone this morning so I showed the nurse the photos from last night. She thinks she has trodden on something and has bruised her foot. This evening it clearly looks like a round bruise. She's still hobbling, but we're all relieved it wasn't anything worse!

The nurse called it a 'foot trauma'
