If you have had bunion surgery recently, please tell me about it

How long before you could walk again?
How painful was the recovery?
Was the op done as day surgery?
Did you have any physiotherapy afterwards?
Can you wear ordinary shoes now?

I had this in March and did a foto documentation for my DSis.
2 days in hospital
walking in a sepcial shoe for six weeks
physio and home exercises to get movement back and wrong habits removed
told to keep the foot as often as possible at over heart hight (bc. swelling)
after six weeks the OK for normal shoes (but I stick to flat and comfortable)
now I've just got a normal looking foot and can finally walk without pain (after about 40 years)
no real pain involved - more like the pain you get after excercise
