Where do you like to sit on a flight?

I'm travelling alone on a large aircraft in a few weeks

It's a 3-3-3 config with 2-2 at the back

Just trying to decide where I want to sit?

Where do you like to sit when you're travelling on your own?
I've only even been in business when I'm on my own so just gathering opinion Smile

Any row with extra leg room. If not possible, the aisle seat of a 2 row.

FlowerFlour · 15/11/2021 12:04

Window seat, midway along near the wing. The plane is reinforced around the wing so if there's an accident that area is most likely to survive.

The middle seats are awful, I just can't relax.

Window seat near the front.

Aisle seat always when economy. Then I have a preference dictated by my dominant hand - want my eating writing hand to be on the aisle if possible.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 15/11/2021 12:08

The cockpit looks like it might be fun Grin

mdh2020 · 15/11/2021 12:08

Always the aisle so I can get out to the loo and , if someone else is paying, business class.

user1471523870 · 15/11/2021 12:11

Always window seat as I rarely need the toilet and like napping - this way I don't get disturbed/woken up.
Also, particularly on long haul flights, as far as possible from the toilets as I can't tolerate the smell and the constant queues near me.

ElftonWednesday · 15/11/2021 12:11

Anywhere they randomly allocate me to so that I don't have to pay extra for choosing a seat.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/11/2021 12:12

A different plane to DH and children? Grin

Aisle seat. Best case scenario on the middle 3 next to a couple so you aren't getting disturbed.

Dont like being trapped in by a stranger.

dementedpixie · 15/11/2021 12:13

Aisle seat.

FatCatThinCat · 15/11/2021 12:13

Tucked away at the back in the corner.

TokyoSushi · 15/11/2021 12:14

Absolutely aisle. I was once on a flight from Singapore in the window seat when an enormous man sat next to me, fell asleep before take-off and snored and couldn't be moved for an entire 10-hour flight, I was basically trapped in my seat, horrific!

Hodgehog · 15/11/2021 12:20

As far away as possible from other people’s children.

HeronLanyon · 15/11/2021 12:20

tokyo I had this once and as my neighbour prepped to sleep (major obvious preparations) I actually asked if he would mind swapping seats as I wasn’t planning to sleep. He was over the moon as he was able to lean on side and I was over the moon not to be trapped. Cue much thanking each other as we left the plane.

DoThePropeller · 15/11/2021 12:22

If I’m planning to sleep, window. Otherwise aisle seat near the front, especially as they now disembark you slowly row by row.

DillonPanthersTexas · 15/11/2021 12:24

So long as I turn left when I board I don't really care.

TheWholeWorld · 15/11/2021 12:25

As far from the loo as possible, a window seat ideally.

jpbee · 15/11/2021 12:27

I've always liked the back rows and ideally a window seat. I think it relates to wanting to sit at the back of classrooms/exam halls when I was younger. I just don't really like the feeling of everyone being behind me and prefer to be able to see over a room/aircraft.

Bananarice · 15/11/2021 12:29

Far away from the toilets.

CMOTDibbler · 15/11/2021 12:30

Short haul, window over the wing, usually RHS. Long haul, right at the back, window against the bulkhead or middles if it is a quiet flight so I can go to sleep without my seat being back annoying people

Lightningrain · 15/11/2021 12:30

If I’m on my own I like the aisle seat so I don’t potentially have to wake someone up to go to the toilet.

I usually go for as close to the front as possible to get off first if it’s an air bridge.

I hate being near the back as it’s noisy and you feel all the bumps and vibrations.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/11/2021 12:31

I find the back rows are bumpier/have more vibration than the rows over the wing, plus if the loos are at the back there will often be people standing beside your seat, or leaning agains your seat, queueing for the loo. If you can't get an emergency exit row then the row in front of the emergency exit will have less likelihood of being kicked by the person behind.

Iamhaunted · 15/11/2021 12:33

At the back, last row if possible. So I can be first off the plane on the back steps, whilst everyone else is throwing themselves towards the front.

And the back cabin crew can help me get anything in the overhead (I am short!)

HelloKittySkittles · 15/11/2021 12:33

Aisle seat on the left side of the plane so I can occasionally stretch my dicky left knee. I would also feel the need to go to the loo every 30 mins if I was worried about having to disturb people to actually go to the loo.

claymodels · 15/11/2021 12:34

Which aircraft?

I assume long haul as you say a large aircraft although I am aware some wide bodies do short/medium in certain places. I would choose an aisle seat as I hate to be 'stuck' - but if it's not a long flight a window may be nicer.
